Gerad Morgan-Grenville was the founder of the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) in the year 1973 which was known to be built around an environmentally friendly practice.

The Centre for Alternative Technology has made an impressive progress in the fields of sustainable, eco-Friendly and zero carbon elements since its early days by creating a sustainable habitat community from a disused Welsh Slate Quarry. CAT demonstrates working examples of sustainable living, compositing, energy consumption and environmentally responsible buildings. CATs award winning WISE centre offers a variety of insightful activities and experiences to gain practical tips on alternative energy sources
( micro hydro, wind power ), composting ( sanitation ), land management ( biomass/food ), sustainable building tecniques ( straw bale building, clay rendering )
