Established over 40 years ago Zero Carbon Britain is an initiative from the Center For Alternative Technology (CAT) offering in-depth information on a wide range of topics including; renewable energy, green buildings, architecture and sustainable land management.
Zero Carbon Britain is CATs flagship research programme.
UK now gets 43% (2020) energy from Renewable Resources, Solar Panels, Wind Turbines, Plantation and Energy crops and Agricultural and Food waste.
Why We need Zero Carbon?
Burning fossil fuels contributes to most of UKs greenhouse gases, although CO2 emissions are absorbed by plants and oceans while the rest build up in the environment. Greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere have increased in the last 800,000 years and still continue to rise as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen oxide are emitted with continuous use of fossil fuels to heat homes, cars, chemical processes in industry, use of land and production of food.
Zero Carbon has become a more commonly accepted goal. CATs work has not only played an important role in raising the profile of 'Zero' but has delivered confidence resulting in a positive output.
